Exfoliation 101

Winter is coming. Although this sentence now brings us all lovely flashbacks of Jon Snow saving the day and looking amazing doing it, it also means you probably have to step up your skincare game. Dry, itchy, red, uncomfortable skin could be in your future, BUT if you start prepping for it now, you'll be in much better shape come the coldest days!

Don't forget to exfoliate! This often overlooked skincare step will not only buff away the top dull layer of skin, it'll also make it easier for your skin to absorb moisture. Everyone's skin is different, but on average, everyone should be exfoliating their skin once or twice a week. Set aside a few minutes this week to exfoliate and watch how quickly your skin changes!

There are two ways to exfoliate:

PHYSICAL – This is any scrub with actual particles that remove dead skin with friction. This can include jojoba beads, sugar, clay, or any other grains.

CHEMICAL – This method of exfoliation uses enzymes or natural acids to remove the bonds that hold dead skin cells to your skin so they naturally shed. You will often see papain, a papaya enzyme, or pineapple enzymes.
