These are the biggest makeup trends you'll see in 2022

If you’ve followed us a while, you’ve probably figured out by now that we’re not big on trends. We tend to focus more on well-formulated basics that everyone can love. We favor a good “no-makeup” makeup look, built with staples like your favorite mascara and light-weight foundation. That’s not to say that we can’t get behind a statement lip or bright eyeliner once in a while! Today, we’re mixing things up and showing you the out-of-the-box makeup looks that’ll get your creativity flowing! Why not? Even if you’re only showing it off on zoom, if it made you feel better, it was worth it!

  1. Matching your eyeshadow to your lip color

Monochrome is in! There’s the sophisticated Winter white outfit and the classic all black, but monochrome makeup is a bit harder to pull off. Make sure you find the shade that works best for you and let the color do the work. No need to create a dramatic cat-eye or overdo it with lip conturing. It’s a LOOK!

2. Colorful eyeliner

If shadow isn’t your thing, add some color with your liner! You know that shimmer shade in your favorite eyeshadow palette that you never use? Here’s your chance!

3. Statement blush.

This may just turn out to be the new contouring. I’m most excited about the chance to play with cream and liquid blushes though. Aside from the obvious sun kissed flush it’ll add to your skin, these formulas will give you some added hydration and dewy complexion.

4. Gloss is back!

It feels like ultra-matte formulas took over the world for the last several years, but in 2022, super shiny glosses are back! We’re currently testing out new formulas to ensure our selection is truly glossy and never sticky. More coming soon!

If you’ve found yourself wondering how to pull these looks off, keep scrolling for our go-to products and don’t forget, local friends can call and schedule a beauty consultation and have one of our makeup artists teach you!

These color pots can help with all of these trends! Although they’re traditionally used as a cream blush, you can also swipe over your lids as you would eyeshadow or use with a very fine brush and create a colorful eyeliner!

If you’re more comfortable layering on a powder blush, we’re big fans of Vapour Beauty’s version!

We’re also big fans of multi-purpose products here at Shimmer, so if you’re going to wear a gloss, it might as well also improve the health of your lips, right? Fitglow Beauty’s Lip Colour Serum goes beyond just adding color, it also adds substantial hydration and organic pomegranate plant sterols improve lip structure to diminish fine lines.

Want the glossy shine without the color? We’ve got that, too.
