The Secret to Keeping Your White Clothes at Their Brightest
I’m a fan of wearing white year-round, but I definitely wear it more often come the summer. From your favorite crisp white button-down, your trusty white tee or even those risky white jeans, keeping these closet staples bright are a must and can sometimes feel like a losing battle. Here are the two products I use to take care of my whites, along with a few tips to keep in mind!
Pretreat Stains
Pretreating with each wash will help prevent buildup that leads to yellowing and permanent stains. Target visible stains and focus on areas more likely to discolor like underarms. Create a mixture of All-Purpose Bleach Alternative and Stain Solution. Apply the mixture directly to the fabric and gently rub together.
Soak
Often overlooked, soaking is the most important step in dissolving dullness and revealing a bright under layer. Fully submerge the item or items in a bath of hot water with a capful of All-Purpose Bleach Alternative. Allow to soak for up to 30 minutes. Presoaking is not necessary before every wash, but will go a long way when added to your routine every 4-5 washes.
Hang to dry outside if possible. Not only is this the eco-friendly option, the sun naturally brightens clothes!
Wash whites separately. I know, I know. Everyone hates this one, but it’s true! Runoff is a real problem!
