Meet the products that will keep your makeup in place on the hottest days

These tips work for any skin type but are especially great for oily prone types!

Prep

Prepping the skin is the most important part because this is the canvas you will be working on. Moisturizing is important no matter how hot it is or how oily you get. Opt for one with sunscreen already in it, like the Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing Oil-Free Moisturizer with SPF 30, or the Suntegrity Priming Moisturizer. Once that is applied and has melted into the skin, you can go in with a makeup primer. The Vapour Beauty Essential Daily Primer is nourishing and works to improve your skin while you wear it. But more importantly, it creates a smooth and diffused base that allows your foundation and concealer to have something to stick to and improve longevity.

Foundation

Choosing the right foundation for your skin type can seem more intimidating than it actually is. One of my favorites for oily skin or for super hot days when you want hardly anything on the face is the Ere Perez Quinoa Water Foundation. This foundation has a light coverage and an even lighter feel. It has a more matte finish especially once set with powder. Another favorite for all skin types who maybe want a little bit more coverage is the Vapour Beauty Soft Focus Foundation. In addition to longer lasting foundation, to achieve a more seamless finish, try applying your foundation in thinner layers. Less is definitely more and only spot treat or build coverage on spots you absolutely need it!

Set and Forget

Once you’ve applied your foundation and concealer it’s time to set! Oilier skin types can set the entire face with a large fluffy brush, while dryer types can spot set under the eyes or in the T Zone. A favorite face powder is the Juice Beauty Flawless Finishing Powder. This powder has light reflecting pigments that give you a natural brightness without being too shimmery or too chalky. If you’re worried about super dry skin, skip the powder altogether! Finally, set with a makeup mist. This helps to eliminate any over powdered looks, give the makeup a more seamless look, and lock in any hard work that you’ve put in! A favorite is the Lily Lolo Makeup Setting Mist.
