Which foundation is right for you?
A great look starts with a great foundation.
Any reputable clean beauty brand will have quality products, so it’s really is about preference. And because it’s so subjective, giving the product a whirl for yourself is really your best research.
We could all use some guidance, which is why Shimmer has blogs like this to help you along the way. They point out the highlights (and lowlights) so you can start with products that make the most sense for YOU.
The good news is there is no bad or wrong product here. It’s just what feels good on your skin that matters.
This blog looks at three Shimmer favorite foundations: Vapour Beauty’s Soft Focus Foundation, Ere Perez’s Quinoa Water Foundation and Ere Perez’s Oat Milk Foundation. All three represent the best of what a foundation can offer: clean beauty, effectiveness, and good-for-you ingredients. Our reviewer breaks down her experience with each one below. But first, every foundation application starts with, well, a good foundation. So don’t forget to apply moisturizer or face oil AND sunscreen first.
Vapour Beauty Soft Focus Foundation
Since this Vapour foundation offers light-to-medium coverage, our reviewer went with a foundation brush, like the Vapour Beauty Foundation Brush, to apply. Application was smooth and it left her skin feeling moisturized and also looking like her skin - but with a filter. This radiant glow masked imperfections while letting her own skin shine through. Our reviewer has large pores and oily skin, and this foundation covered her pores well and lasted all day. She reports that her skin felt “bright” until she washed it off at bedtime.
Vapour Soft Focus Foundation pairs well with Clove + Hallow Conceal + Correct, EcoBrow Defining Crayon, PYT Everyday Powder Blush, Ere Perez Vanilla Highlighter in Sun Halo on eyelids and Lily Lolo Big Lash mascara.
Ere Perez Quinoa Water Foundation
If you’re looking for light, dewy coverage, the Quinoa Water Foundation is for you. Excellent for summertime, it leaves a natural finish that covers minor imperfections in an easy application. Our reviewer loved this weightless foundation for her oily skin, which she applied with the Jenny Patinkin Pure Luxury Makeup Sponge. While this light formula was a dream on most of her face, it was too light to cover all the visible pores on her nose on the first pass. Building coverage with the make-up sponge helped to get the job done. It lasted all day for a natural look through nighttime.
Ere Perez Quinoa Water Foundation pairs well with Ere Perez Vanilla Highlighter in Sun Halo on eyelids and cheek bones, EcoBrow Defining Crayon and Fitglow Beauty Vegan Good Lash+ Mascara.
Ere Perez Oat Milk Foundation
For medium coverage, this Oat Milk Foundation is the way to go. It offers traditional coverage of a foundation while leaving skin feeling like your own. It has an easy, silky application that had excellent coverage, including those pesky pores on our reviewer’s nose. She used both a foundation brush and the Jenny Patinkin Makeup Sponge to apply and was pleased with how the Oat Milk Foundation performed with both. Coverage lasted all day, making it a great option for special events.
Ere Perez Oat Milk Foundation pairs well with Clove + Hallow Conceal + Correct, EcoBrow Defining Crayon, Lily Lolo Cheek duo, Lily Lolo Big Lash mascara, and Lily Lolo lip gloss.
