Is Your Skin Ready for the Season to Change?

I could not be more thrilled that Fall is arriving soon. I certainly do not thrive in the heat and humidity. Now that my mornings start with crisp air, I can definitely get started earlier and accomplish more with ease. While I am glad that the moisture levels in the air are going down—goodbye fizz!—it does mean that our skincare routines will have to adjust as well. Keep scrolling for some tips on taking care of your skin during the change of season.

  1. You may need to change your cleanser.

Pay close attention to how your skin reacts to colder weather versus warmer weather. If you’re using a foaming cleanser, you’ll probably want to switch to a more hydrating formula like an oil. We are big proponents of using oil cleansers not matter what the season or what your skin type is, but the takeaway here is, unless you have very oily skin, foaming cleansers are typically too drying for the colder months.

  2. Ramp up your moisturizing routine.

The most obvious first step is to try a heavier moisturizer if you need to but, there’s another option! If all you’re doing is applying a cream moisturizer, adding a serum could also do the trick. Remember, healthy, youthful-looking skin is hydrated skin!

  3. Look for ingredients like Vitamin A and C.

Vitamin C serum and retinol are powerful anti-agers that can both help protect your skin from the aging repercussions from the sun’s damaging UV rays and promote an overall brighter skin tone. Vitamin C can be used daily, but any retinol product should only be used up to 4 days week. We recommend patch testing first, then slowly working into your routine, starting with use every two days.

  4. Stay on top of exfoliation.

This often overlooked skincare step can make a major difference in how your skin retains moisture and hydrated it looks. Exfoliating will remove the top, dead layer of skin, making it easier to absorb moisture and remove any unsightly rough patches. We have exfoliating products for your face, body and lips!
