Zoom Meeting Makeup Tips

Who would have thought that 6 months later, we are still not back to work as usual?! It looks like many of the changes we’ve experienced in terms of how work is conducted, are here to stay. If we’re going to have virtual meetings for the foreseeable future, we might as well take some steps to make sure we feel our best while doing it! There are some simple tricks, both with products and without, to make sure you present your best self online!

  1. Lighting is key! Where you set your laptop up will make a huge difference. Lighting from above is never flattering. This tends to create extra shadows, making under eye circles visible, whether or not you already have them! Front-facing, natural light is always best!

  2. Angles matter! Be careful not to place your laptop too low so that the camera is looking up at you. It’s best to elevate your device so that the camera is looking you straight on.

  3. Mascara is the quickest way to make your eyes look more open and your overall face look more awake. No other eye makeup necessary if that’s not your thing!

  4. A little highlighter goes a LONG way! A subtle brush stroke of a powder highlighter placed just along your brow bone and the tops of your cheekbones will beautifully reflect the natural light and make your skin look instantly brighter. I’ll include a graphic below that shows a full highlighter look, but just know that framing your eyes with highlighter can be just enough! Remember, anything you put dark on recedes and anything you add light to appears more obvious.

5. If you’re feeling washed out, a blush with a glow finish will look great on camera! The HydraTint Blush Serum from Clove + Hallow is a liquid blush with Hyaluronic Acid, making your skin instantly dewy and your cheeks well defined without being overdone. Liquid and creme blushes definitely work better on camera.

6. Putting on a lip color is the easiest way to immediately look more put together! Keep in mind how you will actually be participating in the meeting. If it’s a lengthy meeting and you will be speaking the majority of the time, choose a long lasting color in a neutral shade that you won’t have to think about! Save the bright red lip for a meeting you’ll be less active in!

7. A great concealer is a must for hiding those under eye circles! This does not require using foundation on your entire face. Just a little concealer under your eyes and covering any blemishes you wish to hide can make a huge difference! Using a shade with a slightly more orange undertone will hide darkness best. For my fair skin, I use a shade with a slightly peach undertone, but for someone with a little darker complexion, a true orange undertone will do the trick.

If you’re used to doing a full makeup look, try to remember that you would need to go a little heavier for it to fully appear in what can sometimes be a very pixilated screen in zoom! For those of you who are just looking to feel more put together on screen, a great concealer, mascara and fabulous lip color will go a long way! As always, feel free to message us with any questions!
